By bringing together this amazing group of women we prove to you that it is okay to throw like a girl, shoot like a girl, dream like a girl, create like a girl, and most importantly, to be a girl.
Like A Girl With Sarah Allison
Hello world, meet Sarah Allison, a.k.a. Mother of Marketing! Check out how this single mama has learned how to take her future into her own hands and become the ultimate mom boss.
What is Mother of Marketing?
Mother of Marketing is a digital media company that focuses on educating small business owners and entrepreneurs on how to manage their social media presence and navigate the ins and outs of social platforms.
What inspired you to start your business?
After experiencing high churn rates and a lack of understanding from small business owner clients, I decided that due to the inflating costs of running a business that it would be more cost effective to help business owners run and manage their own social media.
Who are your role models?
Honestly, Tina Fey. Not only is she hilarious and entrepreneurial, but she also achieved all she has so far by being herself and doing so later in life which to me just shows that it's never too late.
If you could give any one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Hold on tight the ride is rough but worth it. You'll learn a lot, hurt a lot, heal more, and love more than you ever have before.
What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
Becoming a single mom/business owner. It's the single hardest thing I've ever done. Living paycheck to paycheck each month for a while and sometimes not knowing whether I'd be able to afford to live the next month made it difficult to sometimes hold it together. Not to mention when Fox was diagnosed with Autism, that made everything so much more difficult but it also taught me so much about myself and where my priorities were at.
What is your superpower?
Intuition. Not only does it serve me well as a mother, but with my clients and students as well.
What do you do when you feel like you have hit a roadblock in your business?
I take ten steps back and go enjoy my personal life. I often find renewal in non-work related activities.
What do you hope to accomplish in one year?
After a year of economic downturn, I look to bring my company's revenue back to over $150K from last year and continue working with individuals and small groups to improve their knowledge of social media.
What is the biggest thing you have learned so far after starting your business?
I may doubt myself from time to time but I am resilient AF.
If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
When you start your business you can't stop doing the things that bring you joy. If you detour from the happy parts of your life you will soon find yourself slowly slipping into the dark side of entrepreneurship. Pursue happy, always happy.
